Welcome to the Ladies' Section of Sherborne Golf Club. As Lady Captain I am delighted to introduce you to the Ladies section. We are a friendly and welcoming group and are keen to attract Lady golfers of all standards to join our established and supportive section.
Thursday is Ladies’ Day when we run our monthly Stableford and Medal competitions, which are open to all ladies with handicaps, interspersed with fun competitions. For a number of competitions alternative weekend dates are available for ladies who are unable to play on a Thursday. We also have a Monday morning Roll-up available for ladies of all playing standards.
All new members are welcomed by myself and allocated a Buddy to assist them in their first season. The Ladies section are very active, and we run a Spring and Autumn Closed, Summer and Winter knock out competitions and enter National and County competitions too. There are also Mixed Competitions organised throughout the year.
Socially there is Lady Captain’s day and Captain’s away day, and many ladies get together on a Thursday after playing. We run an Open each year and also a Golf and Coffee morning. Inter-club and Beales/Woods (for Bronze ladies) matches are played each season against other clubs in Dorset as well as many friendly matches. So – plenty of golf!
We have recently signed up to The Women in Golf Charter which aims to increase the number of girls and ladies coming into golf and generally improve the profile of women in golf. This year we plan on running some initiatives and coaching for ladies new to golf and our Academy course is now fully functional.
The Women’s Section welcomes golfers of all abilities to join our established and supportive section. All new members are assigned a buddy to ensure they get the most from the opportunities at Sherborne.

Weekly Stableford and medal competitions are run on Thursday mornings alongside a number of weekend competitions. There are opportunities to enter mixed competitions within the club and a range of National and County competitions as well.
There are many social events ranging from the informal get-together in the Clubhouse at the beginning or end of the round to a variety of away days.
