Sherborne Golf Club was originally founded in 1894 as a 9 hole course.
In 1936 James Braid designed 10 new holes on the land south of the lane and totally redesigned the old 9 holes to become 8 of entirely different character.
For the war years the club reverted back to 9 holes before being brought back to 18 holes in 1964 when an exhibition match between Peter Alliss, John Jacobs, Bernard Hunt and Dai Rees was held to celebrate the re-opening.
