Juniors who are new to the game will be welcome to attend the popular Saturday morning Academy sessions, in order to learn how to play under guidance from our PGA professionals, as well as meeting up with fellow Juniors. Whilst the object is to teach the game, the emphasis is on fun.
Juniors are allowed to play on the course as soon as they join Sherborne, and once they have the basics they will be encouraged to play as much as possible, with a view to obtaining their handicap, which opens up a range of playing options. The Junior section arranges regular roll-ups, which allow Juniors to play on the course with other Juniors for fun, or to put cards in for handicap qualification. All juniors and parents are also welcome to join in with occasional fun days.
Juniors with handicaps up to 54 can play in Junior competitions, which are held throughout the year. Improving players, with handicaps of 28 for boys, 36 for girls, will also be eligible to play in Junior matches, both internally against other sections and externally against other clubs in a competitive environment. We hope that all Juniors will look forward to the day they put on their Sherborne shirt to represent the team for the first time.
